Results day beckons
Like thousands of families up and down the country, we are building up to the climax of the school year – results day! My sixteen year old daughter is busily resting after all the hard work of the exams before we get her GCSE results on 25 August 2011. Like many young people, she has already decided her next steps and having looked at a couple of excellent local FE colleges, she will be staying on in her school sixth form.
Of course, in reality, it depends whether or not she gets the grades she needs; if she does, all well and good and its sixth form for her. If not, we’ll have another set of decisions to make – will it be her local FE college – good range of courses, excellent results and very close – or a sixth form college – good results, limited courses and farther to travel; but how will we know what’s available?
Luckily, Learning Plus UK is to hand! Our first app ‘Where’s my college?’ means anyone can find their nearest FE, sixth form or specialist college. All we need do is touch the screen and the app will do the rest – finding the 10 nearest colleges if you’re in a town and 5 if you’re more rural. It gives you all you need: address, website and phone number. It will be available from next month for both iPhones and Androids and will be downloadable from the Learning Plus UK website.
At Learning Plus UK we hope all our young people get the grades they want and deserve given all their hard work. Still, if they’re not sure where to go or they want to change their mind, or if for some reason the grades don’t go the way they want, there’s ‘Where’s my College?’ to help out.
