Newsletter - May 2015

Welcome

As the exam season is now underway we are looking to the future. We know that this autumn, many LAs will be unable to send us their data via the EPAS system. So we have some great news which will not only benefit local authorities but also all the schools, academies and colleges that subscribe to the Post-16 LPUK Datadashboard. For those of you who send us data on exams day please continue, we are looking to reduce the turnaround time of this, so you get your analysis even sooner!

The Post-16 LPUK Datadashboard

Introducing 2 Autumn  Updates. One as soon as you send your exam results to us and a second when the unvalidated national datasets are released.

Providing an update using the unvalidated KS5 national dataset will give you:

·         The latest national benchmarks and for individual centres, local authority benchmarks.

·         LPUK Value added calculated using the latest national baselines

·         Analysis of the same cohorts and presentation of the same performance measures as in the

          Spring Validated Datadashboard

·         Characteristic analysis available from the school census

The other good news: There will be no extra charge for our current 2015-16 subscribers for this additional update.

Further details will be sent to all subscribers about this new development in the next few weeks.

Big Numbers

Pupil characteristics are used increasingly in educational data.

There is greater emphasis than ever on ‘Closing the gap’, and pupil attainment is often reported alongside these characteristics.

At Learning Plus UK, we have school census-based data from the

DfE to compare regional differences in pupil characteristics, from 2012 to 2014. Take a look at our infographic and blog, here.

Grade Predictor

Did you know…?

  • that you can enter a students’ GCSE average using their total KS4    points, their average grade, or all their grades?

medium

  • that you can upload a group of students using the ‘batch’ option? Just download and complete the template (1), upload it and match the subjects (2)       and then download the predicted grades (3).

  • that you can predict grades for several different subject types?
