Post-16 LPUK Datadashboard – your summer 2015 Level 3 results

With just weeks left until the 2015 Level 3 results day, our Post-16 LPUK Datadashboard is ready for your data submissions!

This year, we have prepared several updates that will allow you to:

-          Access a new update in late autumn using the national unvalidated KS5 dataset

-          View your data in a new layout reflecting the new 16-19 accountability measure areas of

Progression, Attainment, Retention,  English & Maths, Destinations.

-          Monitor the changes in your centre over time, with 3-year trends for even more measures

All our subscribers have been notified about the different data uploads and the data submission process. Please contact us if you have not received this information.

Big Numbers

The issue of growing numbers in schools has been raised a number of times recently in the media, with concerns expressed over the growing number of pupils, yet the decreasing number of schools.

At Learning Plus UK, we used the primary school data available from the DfE in order to explore this obvious issue and to discover which regions were being affected more heavily by the population surge.

Take a look at our blog and Big Numbers to see what we found.

16-19 Accountability Headline Measures

To make it easier for you to navigate through the changes in the 16-19 education sector, including the new accountability measures and the qualification reforms, we have gathered the relevant documents and releases on our website.  You can also download our simplified handout on the accountability measures.

Tracking and Monitoring Tool: Upcoming changes

As part of our regular updates, and in line with the A Level reform, we have several exciting changes planned for our Tracking and Monitoring Tool. Each change has been carefully considered in order to ensure the tool continues to support you in assessing your students and understanding their progress.

The changes will:

  • Distinguish the (new) linear AS and A Levels from the (old) modular qualifications
  • Allow you to create a linear AS Level group and then move students into a linear A Level group if the student decides to continue the subject for a second year
  • Allow you to create co-teaching groups for linear AS and linear A students
  • Not count linear internal assessments/unit marks towards the final grade
  • Not count linear AS Level grade towards the final linear A Level grade
  • Use weighting for units/assessments instead of UMS points for linear AS and A Levels

In addition:

  • Results will now be displayed as fine grades (A+, A, A-) in order to give you a deeper insight into student attainment
  • You will be able to record even more characteristic information about your students
  • A new, comprehensive guide will be available to ease you through the set-up process and support your day-to-day use

Still to come:

  • Attendance measures
  • English and maths groups
  • Comments section for qualitative data

The updated system will be ready for use from mid-August and a new User Guide will be sent to all our subscribers to support you through the set-up process.

As always, many of these changes come from suggestions from our subscribers, as well as our own knowledge of the education system. If you’ve been using the Tracking and Monitoring Tool, and have an idea that you think we should know about, then please get in touch!

Data Releases

Each month at Learning Plus UK, we compile a comprehensive list of the most important releases in educational data. This month, amongst other things, we have been reading about 16-18 participation levels, initial teacher training and the newly updated Ofsted handbooks.

You can have a look for yourself via our Data Releases page on our website where you’ll find a brief overview of each release, as well as links to the entire document.
